Arsene always tells me to shoot

DENILSON has revealed Arsene Wenger's constant badgering resulted in his long-range thunderbolt last night.

The midfielder cracked home Arsenal's second goal as they cruised past Standard Liege and into the final 16 of the Champions league.

But Denilson admits he would not have tried his luck had it not been for Wenger's pep talks.

He said: "Personally I'm very proud with myself because it's nice to score.

"I try my luck in training whenever I can and Wenger is always telling me to shoot.

"It's good for my confidence to score and I'm very happy.

"It was brilliant for me and the team — but we can still improve."

Samir Nasri opened the scoring at the Emirates 10 minutes before Denilson put the result beyond doubt on the stroke of half-time.

And the Brazilian believes the victory has given the Gunners the perfect platform for Sunday's vital clash with Premier League leaders Chelsea.

He added: "The goal is brilliant for me and we have to look to the Chelsea game now.

"We have a good team and the quality to win — we also have more confidence this season."
